Robinson R66 Turbine Marine

The Robinson R66 Turbine Marine helicopter is a modification designed for safer flights over water. This model is equipped with emergency streamlined, low-profile 6-chamber floats. The floats inflate within 2-3 seconds after activation.

When you press the float inflating lever mounted on the common pitch lever of the FAC, helium is released from the cylinder located under the right rear seat. The inflating lever works by means of a mechanical cable, so in order to inflate the floats, no electric drive is required.

Floats weigh down the weight of the helicopter by 30 kg, can be in the active position constantly, limiting the flight speed to 150 km / h.

Non-inflated floats are stored in a collapsed position in compact protective covers along the chassis skids. The streamlined, low-profile shape of the floats minimizes the drag of the aircraft and allows you to easily get into and out of the cockpit.

Maintenance of floats

Emergency floats require a pre-flight check of the pressure in the helium cylinder and an annual leak test and must undergo a control inflating every 3 years.

R66 Turbine Marine with inflated floats is approved for periodic training and limited operation on water and land.
